80-year-old man dies in West Allis crash

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An 80-year-old man was pronounced dead after a crash on Sunday, Aug. 27. according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office. The victim was identified as Douglas Mickelson of West Allis.

The crash took place around 7:34 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 100 and S. West Cleveland. West Allis police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Initially, police said the 80-year-old man suffered a medical event, but the ME's report showed there was no medical event. The driver of the second vehicle remained on scene. Investigation into the cause of the crash continues, including whether the driver suffered the medical event before or after the crash.

Police say neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be factors in the crash.

The ME's Office said, an autopsy showed the cause of death as "multiple blunt force injuries" and "the doctor did not list any medical issues on the death certificate contribute to the death."
