82-year-old woman rescued from fire in Hartford
On Saturday, May 20 at 5:07 AM emergency officials received a report of smoke coming from the house at 2790 Highway 83 in Hartford. The caller was passing by and was able to help an 82-year-old woman evacuate the home. An off-duty Hartford firefighter also stopped by to help and rescued a cat from the home.
When Sheriff's Deputies arrived they saw heavy smoke coming from a 16-unit garage structure at the Oriole Pond Apartments located near the house which caught fire. Eight additional fire departments responded to the blaze.
The fires were extinguished shortly after 6:00 AM. The garage and contents at the house suffered severe damage including a vehicle which is a total loss. The apartment complex is under construction so there were no tenants. Three garage units damaged as a result of the fire.
