PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The 41-year-old man who was fatally shot along I-43 and Northwoods in Port Washington on Friday, Oct. 30 was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Police say Joshua Terry enjoyed playing basketball with friends, working out at the YMCA in Saukville, and was called a "gentle giant" by those who knew him.
According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, Terry relaxed by going for a drive and listening to music, which is what he was doing the evening he was killed.
Officials say the investigation of the scene revealed "minor vehicle contact" occurred which resulted in an interaction between the two drivers. Terry was shot on the side of the roadway and ultimately died due to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The homicide appears to be an isolated incident. Witnesses told police that the suspect fled in a vehicle north on I-43 at a high rate of speed.
The victim was driving a 2013 white four-door Kia Optima during the time of the incident.
Officials say the family is setting up a reward fund. Information regarding the reward fund will be provided once made available.
"As one can imagine the weight of this incident on Joshua's family," Ozaukee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said. "The family has asked for privacy as they grieve the loss of Joshua, please respect their wishes.
