MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The fences and barricades may have come down for the RNC, but it’s not business as usual at a longtime Milwaukee sports bar.

Major Goolsby’s can be considered a household name for Milwaukeeans…and the Secret Service.

“It’s right from one thing to another,” said Drew Olsen, a manager at Major Goolsby’s. “A lot of people think ‘oh a bar, they’re super busy in the summertime because the weather’s nice.’ No! We do great when the weather’s terrible and everyone’s playing sports.”

Olsen says it saw a little more business than it expected – all because of a map. On the official Secret Service map, it was the only business that got a designation for its entrance.

“There were definitely people that said they came in because they saw it on the map. They’re like ‘okay, I gotta figure this out and see what’s going on,’” said Olsen. “When they came in, they usually came in packs."

Now, the bar is seeing a second business boom.

“I’ve never been to Wisconsin. I've never been to Milwaukee. We were walking into our hotel and heard the seagulls, and we were like 'this is great,'” said Chloe Rolen.

Rolen and 11,000 other people are in town for Northwestern Mutual’s annual convention. Rolen says she’s been enjoying her stay in the Cream City.

“We were kind of nervous coming because we knew that there were gonna be a bunch of people, but it was not as bad as we thought. I think there was one road closed. It was not bad at all,” said Rolen.

Olsen says while business was up and down for many during the Republican National Convention, he thinks the future is bright.

“Having a convention just sets you up for so much down the road. So, in the long run, it was worth it, definitely,” said Olsen.
