MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Downtown Milwaukee's new public art display is now installed. Visitors can admire 15 ornaments this winter. These ornaments are way too big to fit on the Christmas tree.
They're located along Wisconsin Ave and Water Street. Each has been designed and created by an artist with a Milwaukee tie.
The artists were all given one prompt: What do the holidays mean to you and how do you celebrate?
You can walk through the city and see their creativity come to life. From an abstract representation of a woven blanket to an ice hockey scene.
"Each of the artists responded with a unique way ranging with everything from traditional Christmas games and activities with their families to winter-time activities," said Gabe Yeager, the director of public space initiatives at Milwaukee Downtown BID #21. "Really an amazing inclusive group of artists but also an amazing way of how they're celebrating the holidays for people to explore."
You can check out the ornaments through Jan. 6, 2024.
The walk is self-guided, but you can follow an interactive guide online. There are also activities to get the whole family involved.
