'A sign of unity': Catholics weigh in on what they're hoping for in new pope

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Here in the US, new polling is giving us a look at what American Catholics want to see from the next pope.
Nearly half of US Catholics want to see Pope Francis' more liberal legacy maintained.
Another 37% would like to see a conservative shift, compared to 21% who prefer a more progressive approach.
And when it comes to international politics, nearly two-thirds say they want the next pope to be active in global affairs.
Wednesday, we headed to the Capuchin Monastery in St. Francis to get an idea of what local Catholics are looking for in their new leader.
"What we're looking for is someone to be a sign of unity in the church," said Father Nathan Linton. "That is what the pope has always been. The pope is a sign of unity for Catholics around the world."
Father Linton also gave us a bit of insight on a timeline.
He's expecting the white smoke to rise from the Sistine Chapel either Thursday or Friday.
