MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — John Farinacci and John Prokop scored for the Milwaukee Admirals, but the team fell 3-2 to the Rockford IceHogs in preseason action Saturday night at Panther Arena.

Milwaukee grabbed an early lead at 6:10 of the first period when Farinacci scored a shorthanded goal. He collected the rebound of his own shot and knocked it past Rockford goaltender Stanislav Berezhnoy to give the Admirals a 1-0 advantage.

The IceHogs tied the game midway through the second period on a goal from Tommy Budnick.

Milwaukee answered late in the period when Prokop, a Wausau native, scored with 3:02 remaining. Aiden Fink circled behind the Rockford net and found Prokop, who fired a one-timer into the net to put the Admirals back in front 2-1.

Rockford responded with two unanswered goals.

Jamie Engelbert tied the game 2-2 with 48 seconds remaining in the second period before Ashton Cumby gave the IceHogs their first lead of the night at 3:11 of the third.

The Admirals were unable to find the equalizer, falling 3-2.

Milwaukee will travel to Rockford on Monday for its preseason finale.

The Admirals will then return to Rockford on Oct. 3 to open the regular season against the IceHogs.

Milwaukee's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Panther Arena.
