FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS58) -- As of Tuesday, April 11, all 13 Milwaukee County golf courses are open for the season.
"[The golf season] is short. We only have about four-and-a-half, five months of really playing. It's short, but that makes it more meaningful because you know it's going to go away soon," Oakwood Park Golf Course PGA Head Professional Adam Anderson said.
Anderson, who grew up playing on Milwaukee County Greens, is back for his first entire summer as Oakwood's Head PGA Professional.
"I'm just thrilled. This place is very near and dear to my heart," he said. "Everyone is just appreciative and just happy to be back and enjoy this weather while it lasts."
Anderson is just one of the many employees excited to welcome back golfers. Milwaukee County Parks Executive Director Guy Smith told CBS 58 the sport grew in popularity during the pandemic.
"Golf really spiked in usage during COVID, and that trend has really continued. It was one of those safe, family-friendly things you could do during COVID, and now that we're sun-setting COVID, people are still getting out there and enjoying it," Smith said. "We had 192 rounds yesterday, which is amazing for a Monday."
