Allergy season over but still waiting on our first freeze

NOW: Allergy season over but still waiting on our first freeze
NEXT:

According to our local allergists, our seasonal allergy season is over. At least according to the pollen numbers they are seeing. No noticeable pollens are being up for tree, grass or weed pollens. The weeds pollen was the last allergy season to end. Despite some warmth and some moisture at the beginning of the season, the weeds season was actually below average. It officially started a little late on June 28 but ended only a little late on October 8. The season peaked at the beginning of September which is later than average. Overall pollen counts were fairly low and ranked as 20th over the last 30 years. The whole weed pollen season lasted 102 days far from the record longest season in 2020 of 144 days.

But you could still be sniffling and sneezing from some other allergens out there and until we get a killing freeze that could continue to impact you. Tuesday is the average date for the first freeze in Milwaukee at 36 degrees or colder, but we have only dropped into the mid 40s so far this year. The average date for the first freeze is in about a week and the first killing freeze typically doesn't happen until the beginning of November.

There are no frost or freeze concerns in the current forecast for this week with lows only dropping into the 40s and 50s for both lakeside and inland communities. Maybe towards the beginning of next week we might see lows drop back into the low 40s and some 30s.
