Another chance for patchy frost as 2024 stays mild
We are in the middle of another long dry stretch of weather. It's now been seven full days since we've had any sort of rain from September 6 through the 12th. The longest dry stretch of the year so far was just a few weeks ago from August 18-26 at nine days but we could be on track to exceed that stretch over the next week.
With this dry stretch of weather we have only picked up two hundredths of an inch of rain so far this September which is tied for the 7th driest start to the month on record and far behind the average.
The lack of recent rains that stretches back to the middle of July with long dry stretches has allowed dry conditions to return to parts of Wisconsin. The latest drought information shows no official drought across the state of Wisconsin but definitely some dry conditions shown in yellow and if we don't get any rain in the next week we could see drought conditions return.
Our rain chance is not completely zero over the weekend with some clouds on Saturday and Sunday bringing in a 10-20% chance for some sprinkles with best chances in western counties Saturday evening. But even if you do see some rain it's not going to do anything for those dry lawns and gardens.
