GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Fliers with hateful rhetoric were left outside homes in Greendale. Now, Greendale police are asking people for home surveillance video to help them find the distributors.
It happened on Thanksgiving around 9:30 p.m. Fliers with swastikas and antisemitic statements including, “Hitler was right” were placed into Ziploc bags, along with what callers referred to as “rat poison.”
Greendale police have confirmed the substance was some sort of pet food, but many community members say they’re still concerned. People we spoke with say they were afraid to comment on camera because of how hateful these messages were.
“We know that the material is definitely disturbing to many community members,” said Capt. Donald Kloss with the Greendale Police Department.
Kloss says his community isn’t the only one to receive these pamphlets.
“On the same evening, not only in Greendale were these items left, but across the border in Greenfield as well,” said Kloss.
Kloss says he wants people to go through any security video they may have. If residents receive another flier, they’re encouraged to report it to their local police department.
“Even if you’re not sure if it's useful, give us a call,” said Kloss.
This investigation is ongoing.
