Area's smallest public ice rink, 'The Dinky Rink,' to return to Milwaukee Public Market
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- "The Dinky Rink," the area's smallest ice rink, is set to make a return to the Milwaukee Public Market.
Located outside on the north side of the public market building in the market's surface parking lot, The Dinky Rink will be free for guests and open for operation Friday, Feb. 3 with 90-minute time slots available by reservation only.
“The demand for ice skating was beyond our expectations last year as we had hundreds of people enjoying the rink over a 3-week period,” said Paul Schwartz, executive director of the Milwaukee Public Market and Business Improvement District #2. “It was a clear indication that people are yearning for outdoor amenities like this as they look for fun and unique recreational activities during the winter months.”
According to a news release, this year's rink is slightly larger than last year and includes a new ice curling option. Measuring at 1,000 square-feet, The Dinky Rink features covered seating "farm stand," ice curling, outdoor heaters, and access to food and drink options from market vendors.
The Dinky Rink is open during general operating hours at the Milwaukee Public Market. People ages 3 years and older can skate. Reservations will be taken online. Attendees are required to bring their own skates.
The Dinky Rink will be operate as long as Mother Nature allows.
