Happy Labor Day! The holiday means that September is here and August is in the record books. After most of the August was on the cooler side, the warmer temps for the last week of the month pushed the average temperature to 72.3 which is exactly average and goes down as the 34th warmest on record. The hottest days were just a week ago when we had back-to-back days that reached 94 degrees. The coolest day was in the low 50s just a few days before the heat.
When it came to rain, August was a bit funky. We had long dry stretches of 5-8 days but between dry streaks we saw good soaking rains. All of those rains added up with rainfall totals reaching 4.38" which is the 34th wettest on record and above both last year and the monthly average.
September brings the arrival of fall and fall like temperatures as average highs drop from the upper 70s to upper 60s and lows go from the low 60s to around 50 by the end of the month. We do average over three inches of rain during the month and even though we do not average any snow, we have seen snow flurries as early as September 23rd!
