WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Local businesses and community members are stepping up and showing their support for Officer Kendall Corder’s family.

“I’m glad that we are able to do something for the families who put up with this kind of tragic event,” said Pat Murphy, the owner of Ultimate Confections.

Ultimate Confections is backing the badge the way they know best, making chocolate. Murphy started selling the chocolate badges in 2019 after MPD Officer Matthew Rittner was killed in the line of duty.

“We make the product here and we package it, so our donation is in all of the chocolate and our labor involved in it,” said Murphy. “That all goes to the Milwaukee Police Association.”

Now, after the death of Officer Kendall Corder, hundreds of community members are stopping in to show their support, donating to the cause.

"It's too bad what happened to him,” said customer Robin Grady. “Police officers are important and it’s too bad we lost one. We've lost too many.”

All the money goes towards the Milwaukee Police Association's Fallen Heroes Fund, helping many MPD families including Officer Kendall Corder's.

"I want them to know that the majority of the population and the community has their back," said Murphy.

Feeling the heartbreak and loss of Officer Corder, other businesses like Highlands Café and Major Goolsby's are joining in, buying and selling the chocolate badges.

"In the time of need, we want them there, and we want them to know that we are there during their time of need,” said Sandy Murphy, the owner of Highlands Café. “So, that’s where it’s important.”
