WEST BEND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The pirate's life truly is the life for West Bend residents Tom and Patty Blackstone. Plus, they have the perfect last name for it too.

"Oh and the cannons! We have working cannons." the couple said together in front of their giant pirate ship display on the driveway of their West Bend home at 1130 Shepherds Drive.

They are both big Halloween fans, but especially Patty.

"She is the orchestrator of all this." Tom said.

The couple started the pirate ship displays back in 2018 with something small. It kept growing and this year it is bigger than ever.

"To add a couple of sails or another mast to the ship," said Tom. "That was just fun for me."

When Patty has a new idea, that's when Tom says he gets to work.

"One year she wanted a jail so I built her a jail." he said.

One of the coolest features of the project this year is how the ship opens up and you can go "inside." Below deck is actually through the ship and into their garage which looks like a ship's hull.

They're keeping their ship up through Halloween even though trick-or-treating in West Bend was last weekend. Turns out when kids get to this house, they're not focused on the candy.

"Most of the kids that show up here are more interested in firing off the cannon than grabbing their candy." Tom said.
