Bald eagle in care at the WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A bald eagle is in the care of the Wisconsin Humane Society after being found in Fox Point.
According to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at the Wisconsin Humane Society, the bald eagle was admitted on Friday, July 12. The bird had been found grounded, debilitated, and very weak. Once in the care of the WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, they ran several tests, and believe the bald eagle is experiencing secondary toxicity from rodenticide, meaning the bird likely ate prey had consumed rat poison.
WHS says he is now able to lift his head and support himself, but he's a long way to go before he's healthy enough to return to the skies.
