MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- You may not notice right away, but they cut the ribbon on Thursday, Sept. 26 for a green infrastructure project on Milwaukee's south side.
It is along Becher Street under the I-94 overpass. The city of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee's Sewage District teamed up to create a system of bioswales, permeable pavers and native plantings.
"So, overall, we are reducing the risk of overflow which is helping improve water quality and it's treating that water before it gets to the river," said Andy Kaminski, senior project manager.
The goal is to reduce the pollution from storm water that flows into local waters.
