Ozaukee County Sheriff\'s Office

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An intersection in Ozaukee County was shut down for about an hour and a half Tuesday morning, after beet byproduct was spilled on the roadway.

The sheriff's office received a call around 6:20 a.m. and responded to the intersection of County Highway H and County Highway I in the Town of Fredonia.

Deputies located a semi-tractor that was transporting beet byproduct from Lakeside Foods in Belgium to a farm in the Town of Saukville.

The semi was traveling westbound, attempting to turn southbound on County Highway I when a large amount of byproduct spilled from the dump trailer. Officials say the product was in an open dump trailer with no cover.

The sheriff's office says the driver was a 53-year-old man from Random Lake.

Additional investigation is pending.
