Beloved Cudahy sweet treat shop announces closure
CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A popular bakery in Cudahy announced it will close its doors later this year.
Jen's Sweet Treats has been a staple in Cudahy for the last 11 and a half years.
On Saturday, Feb. 7, Jennifer Clark announced she plans to retire and close the store on Packard Ave.
"I'm going to Tupelo, Mississippi and do a cottage bakery where I'm just going to bake in my home," said Clark. "Back to the roots where it started for my parents and just do farmer's market."
Jen's Sweet Treats is known for making goodies for customers and the community through fundraisers for first responders.
"I've done several fundraisers for different causes, mainly fallen first responders, helping out their families after such a terrible tragedy," said Clark.
CBS 58 has covered Jen's various fundraisers through the years, and while the kitchen is where hands made the batter, it's also where her heard grew with the community.
"I'm going to miss all my customers," said Clark. "My customers are not only my customers, they're my friends."
Clark plans on closing the door on May 31st. Plenty of time to squeeze in an order before she's whisked away from Wisconsin!
Clark says she's going to stay fully stocked until the last day and whatever is left, she'll donate.
