Bond set at $500K for man accused in homicide of Milwaukee alderman's nephew

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The man accused of killing a Milwaukee alderman's nephew appeared in Milwaukee County court for the first time Tuesday, Dec. 2. 

Thirty-eight-year-old Martell Haire was arrested in Oklahoma about two weeks ago after going on the run. 

He's charged in the death of 16-year-old Marquis Champion. Champion is the nephew is Alderman Mark Chambers. 

The teen was shot and killed near 76th and Hampton back in October.

Haire faces five felonies in this case, including a reckless homicide charge.

In court Tuesday, Haire's bond was set at $500,000.

Haire is expected back in court next week.
