Brewers history gets permanent home at Milwaukee VA Medical Center
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee VA Medical Center unveiled a new art installation celebrating its longtime connection to the Brewers, with the team and its community foundation joining for the reveal.
The VA says it's the facility's first art installation specifically honoring local veterans. One photo featured shows VA patients and staff gathered on Mockingbird Hill, a spot where they could once watch Milwaukee Braves games at County Stadium.
"When I look at that I'm amazed by one how many people were out there and two how orderly it looks and how great of a view they had," said Cecelia Gore, executive director of the Brewers Community Foundation.
The tradition of veterans attending games for free continues today through the Brewers Buddies ticket program, which provides free tickets to nonprofit organizations.
