MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Today was a special day, as the Brewers honored World War II veterans from southeast Wisconsin before their game today, Sept. 4.

Burly Brellenthin, a 100-year-old veteran threw out the first pitch. He is one of 25 veterans and 'Rosie the Riveters' who had fun at a tailgate, then rolled onto American Family Field.

Brellenthin said he was honored to be there for the game, let alone to be able to live to be 100 years old.

"Wondering how I'm still here," he said. "I've never thought I'd obtain this age to start with. It's fun."

To give an example of the living history on the field earlier today, those who were 17 years old on September 2, 1945, when the Japanese Peace Treaty documents were signed, they are now 97 years old.
