MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A group of Golden Eagles took the court Friday; this time, teaching hoops instead of playing it.
Marquette players, alongside their mothers, instructed a group of students from Milwaukee Academy of Chinese Language
The event focused on basketball fundamentals and reading proficiency, skills these young athletes can use both on and off the court.
One player hopes he can inspire these kids to do their best, just as others did for him growing up.
"I feel like it means the most, I mean being someone or to have someone to look-- I feel like I have had bigger role models in my life that I always liked and wanted to be like when I was older, so I feel as if it is very important to me," said forward Damarius Owens.
The Golden Eagles are set to host the Villanova Wildcats Saturday, Jan. 10, at Fiserv Forum.
