MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Brewers hosted their annual sober tailgate on Tuesday night, Sept. 8, as part of National Recovery Month, featuring a homerun derby and resources for fans looking to enjoy a game without alcohol.

More than 1,000 people took part, according to organizers.

"It allows us to experience something in a different environment but still have that feeling of home going to a Brewers game, which is so beautiful to experience in Milwaukee," said Grace Alvarez, collegiate recovery coordinator at Marquette University.

"That's the whole focus, to show people in recovery and their loved ones that you can enjoy a game in a sober way, and it's just as much fun if not more fun," said Ben Wells, who helped organize the event.
