Brewers to hold celebration of life for Bob Uecker on Aug. 24

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Brewers will honor the late longtime broadcaster Bob Uecker with a public celebration during their home game against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, Aug. 24. Uecker, who died in January, served as the voice of the Brewers for more than five decades.

The team announced Monday, April 7 that a pregame ceremony hosted by broadcaster Bob Costas will begin before the 1:10 p.m. game. The program will include special guests and rare video footage.

Additional tributes are planned throughout the day, including commemorative lapel pins, Uecker-themed bases and in-game features.

Proceeds from the game’s 50-50 raffle will benefit charities Uecker supported, including Wounded Warrior Project, the ALA Association and the Medical College of Wisconsin Bob Uecker Chair of Cancer Research.

More is expected to be announced before the day of the celebration.
