Excessive amount of oil spilled inside home, residents displaced

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Brookfield Fire Department responded to a report of a fuel spill earlier Friday, Jan. 30.

Upon arrival they found that oil had been pumped into a structure that no longer contained a reservoir, causing the oil to collect on the basement floor. 

According to fire officials, a company went to a wrong home and started pumping heating oil into the basement via a pipe outside. 

Homeowners smelled the oil and called 911. 

No one was inside the residence was directly impacted according to fire officials, but residents won't be able to live at the home while the oil is cleaned up.
