MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Jordan Tate made his first court appearance in Milwaukee Monday, Oct. 31 for a deadly downtown bar shooting in February.

The 25-year-old was arrested by Glendale police last week after eight months on the run.

Tate is accused of firing a gun at the Brownstone Social Lounge.

Thirty-one-year-old Krystal Tucker was working at the door of the club. She was killed by the shots, and two other workers were hurt.

At Monday's virtual hearing, an assistant DA argued to have bail for Tate set at $500,000.

"He intentionally and actively tried many methods to evade law enforcement for as long as he could," said Karine O'Byrne, assistant district attorney. "So, the state feels that a $500,000 cash bail is necessary."

"Your honor, $500,000 is excessive for a 24-25-year-old Milwaukee person with absolutely no criminal record," said William Rakestraw, Tate's attorney.

Rakestraw argued for $90,000 bail, but the judge went with the state's recommendation, half a million dollars.

Jordan Tate faces three felony counts.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday.
