Bucks, Verizon team up to relieve hometown veterans' debts

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local veterans will be getting a special gift for the holidays -- relief from their financial debt. 

The Milwaukee Bucks and Verizon partnered up to relieve $1 million worth of debt through ForgiveCo. 

"Through this program we are thrilled to see $1 million of debt relief support that will be able to be put to use to help change the lives of veterans across the state of Wisconsin," said Arvind Gopalratnam, executive director for the Milwaukee Bucks Foundation. 

The program scheduled to run from Thanksgiving through Christmas is set to erase $250,000 in veteran debt each week. 

Detroit and St. Louis veterans will see the same program come to town, backed by their own local sports franchises.
