West Allis PD: Nathan Hale student arrested after firearm found in backpack

CBS 58 WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police arrested a Nathan Hale student Wednesday, Sept. 23, after they say a firearm was found in his backpack.
According to the West Allis Police Department, the 17-year-old boy was arrested for possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18 and carrying a concealed weapon.
The police department says the student's backpack was searched because it smelled like marijuana.
