Burlington apartment fire evacuates entire block, dog rescued

BURLINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Businesses and residences were evacuated of an entire block on Burlington due to a fire on Friday, Feb. 23.

According to the City of Burlington Fire Department, crews responded to a report of an apartment fire near S. Pine and Robert. They arrived on scene around 2:38 p.m. to find heavy flames on the back porch. 

Crews knocked down the flames and searched for residents. One dog was located in a kennel and was brought outside the apartment with no injuries. 

An evacuation of all businesses and residences was conducted of the entire block. No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire, according to the fire department. 

The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
