BURLINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 34-year-old man is dead after being struck by a garbage truck in the city of Burlington.
It happened Monday morning, April 15 in the parking lot of Pizza Ranch, located on Milwaukee Avenue.
Police say a preliminary investigation shows the garbage truck was performing a backing maneuver when the truck hit the victim as he was walking toward his car.
The victim, according to police, is a Waukesha resident who worked at Pizza Ranch. Pizza Ranch released the following statement on Tuesday, releasing the identity of the victim as Jake Zappa.
The operator of the garbage truck and the ASDA Company are cooperating with law enforcement efforts to conduct a thorough investigation.
