MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Everything must go including the store itself. The downtown Milwaukee Boston store shuttered its doors for the last time at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

It's something long-time Milwaukee residents say is bittersweet to see.

"Bye, Boston Store. You've been good to me." CBS 58 News caught Virginia Fleming snagging some last minute deals on Boston Store's last day in business. She's sad to see the Milwaukee staple go.

"I hate that it's going. I really hate that," said Fleming.

Employees are also feeling down not only losing their job but the memories it held for them over the years.

"All I can say is it is really really sad. Very sad. I'm not the only one sad, all of my customers, associates are all sad because it's going out of business," said employee Joan Heinritz.

Inside the downtown location, it was slim pickings. Everything marked down 70% to 90% with signs advertising "Everything Must Go."

"We bought several things in there but these are the only things that fit in my car right now," said Caliph Muab-El, a Milwaukee resident.

Rumors have been swirling that popular retail chain Von Maur is looking at filing the store's soon-to-be-empty spot but the company can't confirm it's a done deal. They said in a statement that "They are open to new opportunities but can't confirm any new locations."

Employees said they closed their doors forever just after 4 p.m. once everything was sold at the downtown location.
