29 Canadian Pacific train cars derail in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A cleanup effort is underway following the derailment of a Canadian Pacific train in the Town of Lowell Tuesday, July 4.

Officials say about 29 cars carrying grain and potash derailed just before 2 p.m.

No hazardous materials were involved, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, and no one was injured. There is no threat or danger to the community as a result of this incident.

"All we have is property damage here today, which is a blessing when you have a train derailment."

The railroad crossing in the Village of Reeseville was temporarily closed to traffic, but County Highway G has since reopened.

Cleanup efforts outside of Reeseville will continue, and the public is reminded to stay off the tracks.
