Cancer survivor treated to special surprise by Milwaukee Brewers, Aurora Health Care
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Anyone who's battled cancer knows the joy of earning the title "survivor." On Wednesday, we were there when a breast cancer survivor celebrating an anniversary got an extra surprise.
Her name is Jana Zepeda, and at Aurora West Allis Medical Center Wednesday, she marked one year since the completion of her radiation treatments. What she didn't know was that the Milwaukee Brewers were joining Aurora in providing her with a day of pampering and relaxation.
Zepeda is a big Brewers fan. She was treated to a limo ride ending in a visit to a spa, where she was to be joined by Brewers outfielder Blake Perkins, and his wife Falyn, to help celebrate.
"I'm super grateful and I can't believe it," Zepeda said. "I mean, I'm looking forward to it, but I really think that it's just so generous and I'm very, I just feel blessed."
Zepeda says her cancer was caught, in her words, "super small and super early." She says there was no cancer in her family, so she never expected to get it. She says doing the proper screenings every year is what caught her cancer so early and is the reason she's a survivor.
