Candy Cane Lane returns to West Allis Nov. 29, North Shore Bank matching donations
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Candy Cane Lane, a holiday light display involving over 300 homes, returns to West Allis on Friday, Nov. 29. The event, which supports the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund, runs through Christmas Day.
What began with a few neighbors decorating their yards and handing out candy canes has grown into an event raising significant financial contributions to the MACC Fund, according to a press release issued on Thursday, Nov. 21 by North Shore Bank.
Lights will be on from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays, 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 5 to 9 p.m. on Sundays. From Dec. 6 through Dec. 23, Santa Claus may make appearances.
The display is located in the neighborhood bordered by 96th Street to 92nd Street and Montana Avenue to Oklahoma Avenue.
Visitors can make donations at the new collection location on 95th between Oklahoma and Manitoba. Volunteers will be collecting contributions in blue buckets with MACC Fund and North Shore Bank logos.
North Shore Bank has announced that they will host North Shore Bank Night on Friday, Nov. 29 from to 10 p.m., collecting donations for the MACC Fund through its "Change for a Cure" matching campaign. The bank will also collect coins at its branches through the duration of Candy Cane Lane, matching donations up to $1,000.
Candy Cane Lane says that the event has raised over $1 million for the MACC Fund, with last year’s event raising $194,000 and a record $207,512 in 2020.
Visitors are reminded to keep headlights on while driving through and to stay off personal property if walking.
