Car and scooter accident leaves 1 dead near 37th and Congress

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal crash the took place Thursday, Aug. 31. 

A 52-year-old Milwaukee man was riding on a rental scooter near 37th and Congress when an automobile struck the victim. 

Medical assistance was performed on the man; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 52-year-old Robert Cocroft. 

The driver of the automobile fled the scene without stopping.

This investigation is ongoing. Milwaukee police continue to seek an unknown suspect.

The accident took place on Thursday, Aug. 30 near 37th and Congress.
