CBS 58, Brewers Drive-Thru Food Drive collects 558 turkeys, more than 22,000 pounds of food to benefit Hunger Task Force
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- CBS 58 teamed up with the Brewers Community Foundation and the Hunger Task Force for our annual Drive-Thru Food Drive on Friday, Nov. 22. It began at 5 a.m. and ran until 6 p.m. at Helfaer Field.
CBS 58 would like to thank everyone who came out today.
The annual food drive's goal is to collect food, frozen turkeys, and monetary donations for the Hunger Task Force's network of community food pantries. Donations to the Drive-Thru Food Drive benefits our neighbors and those in our community, because all the food stays local. It helps to make the holidays special for people right here in southeast Wisconsin.
"This is a big drive for us, we've seen people come out throughout the day there has been a real outpouring of support, and the need is really great in the community right now we've actually seen a 30% increase in need from the same time last year," said Matt King, CEO, Hunger Task Force.
At the end of the day, you helped us collect 558 turkeys and more than 22,000 pounds of food.
From all of us at CBS 58, we thank you for donating and coming out to say hello to us.
If you couldn't make it down to the drive, you can contribute to our virtual food drive and help purchase turkeys and healthy holiday foods!
