MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Wood National Cemetery, volunteers with the group 'Carry the Load' came together for Patriot Day to scrub headstones and clean the grounds around the resting places of military members.
Marine veteran, BJ Ganem, who helps organize it tells us more than 20 people showed up to help. A number that grows every year.
"By coming out her and doing this day of service, being active, being helpful, helping us move forward, I think it's a very healthy way to remember 9/11 and also build community where we need it most," said Ganem.
The group plans to be back at Wood Cemetery next year to do the same, hoping for more people to come out and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
