Driver fleeing traffic stop crashes into car at 35th and Vliet, killing mother and 2 sons
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The three victims who were killed in a crash on Tuesday, Sept. 16, have been identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as 15-year-old Kariah Ko Moo, 50-year-old Pler Moo, and 21-year-old Taw Moo May.
Friends of the family say the victims were a mother and her two sons. CBS 58 was told Pler Moo's daughter was also in the vehicle and remains in the hospital.
Milwaukee police say they were pursuing a reckless driver who refused to stop. The driver then ran a red light, crashing into the vehicle the Moo family was in. Surveillance video shows the moment of the crash and police arriving a few seconds later, drawing their guns.
Friends say 21-year-old Taw Moo May was known as "Moo Moo," a soccer player, friend, and bright spirit they'll miss.
"He’s an outstanding person. He doesn't like the negativity. He likes to bring joy to people and things," shared childhood friend Samuel Htoo.
"I didn't want to believe it because, of all the people, why does it have to be the people I love?"
The two passengers of the suspect vehicle were injured, as well as the 19-year-old driver who has been arrested but not yet charged.
Friends have stopped by the scene of the crash throughout the day, dropping off flowers and a soccer ball, paying their respects.
