WAUKESHA, Wis (CBS 58) -- On Sunday, Oct. 20, ahead of JD Vance's visit to Waukesha, Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez and local leaders spoke at a canvas launch to remind voters what a Trump presidency would look like for Americans.

Kamala Harris supporters woke up early Sunday morning to rally and knock on doors. It was one of 50 canvas launches across the Badger state.

This, as Republican Vice Presidental nominee JD Vance visits Waukesha where he plans to speak directly to Catholic voters.

"JD wants to lecture us on our values and how those votes translate into a vote for Donald Trump," said Linda Best, a Catholic voter supporting Harris.

Linda Best is a concerned citizen and Catholic, she spoke to the canvassers and says a Trump-Vance ticket does not align with Catholic values.

"For one thing lying does not agree with these values. Desecrating the Bible, manufacturing it in China, profiting off it, or using it as a political prop certainly do not align with my values," said Best.

Gregory Garland is also a member of a Waukesha parish. He says Trump and Vance are only focusing on Christians for their vote.

"He's going to hit the flashpoints but there's a lot more to Catholicism than that and I want Catholics to know that," said Garland.

Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez says while Waukesha has historically voted red the city has recently turned a new page.

"We are seeing a shift in Waukesha County which we are seeing in all suburbs across Wisconsin because of the extreme agenda of Donald Trump and JD Vance," said Rodriguez.

She also says that the stakes in this election are high.

"Whether or not we are going to be able to afford groceries, healthcare. The stakes are whether or not women will be able to decide what they are able to do with their bodies and whether or not we will have a functioning democracy.

Rodriguez wants to remind supporters that many Wisconsin communities open early in-person voting next Tuesday.

"When Trump says he is going to cancel the Constitution we have to believe him when he says that," said Rodriguez.
