(CBS 58) — Week 2 of the Wisconsin high school football season kicked off Thursday with a smaller but still notable slate of games across the greater Milwaukee area, including several teams ranked in the Bound Wisconsin Football Coaches Poll.

Germantown bounced back from its 24-18 Week 1 loss to Homestead with a dominant performance against Hartford, shutting out the Orioles 38-0. The Warhawks improved to 1-1, while Hartford fell to 0-2.

West Bend West hosted Milwaukee Academy of Science and defended its home field with a 41-6 victory. The Spartans improved to 1-1 after falling to Green Bay Preble in Week 1, while Milwaukee Academy of Science dropped to 0-2.

Wilmot Union celebrated Jr. Panthers Night with a convincing 49-7 win over East Troy.

Greenfield pulled off one of the more notable wins of the night, defeating No. 8-ranked Division 5 Columbus 21-12. The Hustlin' Hawks improved to 1-1, while the Cardinals fell to 0-2.

Top-ranked Division 3 Catholic Memorial traveled to Sun Prairie West and showed why it sits atop the division, rolling to a 55-7 victory. The Crusaders improved to 2-0, while the Wolves dropped to 0-2.

Burlington also remained unbeaten, improving to 2-0 with a 35-14 win over Janesville Parker. The Vikings fell to 0-2.

Elsewhere across Wisconsin, De Pere and Fond du Lac entered Thursday night after convincing Week 1 victories, with both looking to start the season 2-0. The matchup belonged to the Redbirds, who defeated the Cardinals 38-19.

In one of Week 2's marquee matchups, No. 5-ranked Division 1 West De Pere hosted No. 6 Appleton North. Despite the teams being separated by just one spot in the rankings, the Phantoms controlled the matchup and earned a 35-7 victory.

No. 2-ranked Division 1 Bay Port faced Kimberly in another highly anticipated matchup. The Pirates avoided an upset and remained unbeaten with a 28-13 victory over the Papermakers.

In Division 2, No. 5 New Richmond traveled to Stevens Point and rolled to a 48-14 win.

No. 6-ranked Division 3 Plymouth also put together an offensive showcase, defeating Sheboygan Falls 53-6. The Panthers improved to 2-0, while Sheboygan Falls fell to 0-2.

The Wisconsin high school football community is also continuing to rally around Alma Center Lincoln following the death of senior Adam Massman.

Massman was seriously injured during Alma Center Lincoln's Week 1 game against Turtle Lake and later died. The school has canceled its Week 2 game scheduled for Friday.

Another Wisconsin high school football game has also been canceled following the death of an Ithaca High School student in a farming accident Thursday morning.

Friday's game between Ithaca/Weston and Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca will not be played.
