MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Among the hubs of culture that adorn the streets of Milwaukee, locally owned bookstores are a consistently popular hotspot to draw readers of all kinds. Some even expand from used books to art, comics, music and more.
To showcase two of the most popular such stores in the Milwaukee area, Amanda Porterfield visited Downtown Books and Boswell Book Company for this week's 58 Hometowns look at local bookstores.
Her reports will showcase stores that have been through their own unique stories of growth and survival during the COVID-19 pandemic, but also have welcomed expansion beyond only catching the attention of readers, as they each offer a little something unique to the people of Milwaukee.
Watch Tuesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 2 to catch her full reports during the CBS 58 news!
To kick off the week of coverage, we were joined by Keith Pajot, the owner of Downtown Books, to take a look at what goes into owning and operating a bookstore that has been a Milwaukee treasure since 1991.
