MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The first weekend of December has arrived, and Joe Krauss of B93.3 FM joined us on Friday, Dec. 1 to take a look at the festive lineup of events set to take place.
Santa's Christmas Cavalcade, featuring a Black Santa, takes route through downtown Milwaukee on Saturday, Dec. 2. Departing from the Milwaukee Public Market at 5 p.m., passing key landmarks, including Pere Marquette Park and Catalano Square.
Also on Saturday, Catalano Square hosts "Christmas in the Ward" from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., featuring a tree lighting, live music and fireworks over the Milwaukee River. Seasonal treats like hot cocoa cocktails and mulled wine will be available.
Throughout the weekend, numerous tree lightings will take place in Sussex, Greenfield and Brookfield, with West Allis hosting a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall Centennial Plaza on Saturday at 4 p.m., followed by a festive parade down Greenfield Ave.
The Milwaukee County Zoo offers a Family Free Day on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing an opportunity for families to explore the zoo without admission fees along with the chance to encounter real reindeer.
