NABJ-Milwaukee to host 2nd annual Black Men’s Health Panel
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One of the starters on Milwaukee's women's team won't have to go far for Thanksgiving dinner.
Payton Rechlicz is in her third season with the Panthers, playing for her mom, Kyle. They admit it was an adjustment at first going from mother-daughter to coach-player, but they've figured it out.
Payton leads the Panthers in minutes this year and is top three in total points, rebounds and steals.
"When Payton is here on campus, I'm coach, I'm not mom," Kyle says. "There's been times that she's had to walk in, and we have code words, like, 'I need you to be mom for a second' cause I won't turn the coaching hat off unless she really needs me to."
"You know, it's getting to see your mom every day down at college, which not a lot of people get to do," Payton says. "But it's also very different seeing her as mom and seeing her as coach. I think she's a great coach, I love playing for her."
