MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee native Mitch Voit has officially signed with the New York Mets.
Voit was picked 38th overall by the Mets in the 2025 MLB Draft.
After an All-American season at Michigan, where he spent his first two seasons both pitching and playing the infield, Voit heads to the Mets preparing to be a position player.
Hearing his name called on draft night was a dream, but Voit knows it's not where the journey ends.
"It's a time to just look at everything you've done but also realize the real work starts right now, and you got to scratch and claw to make your way up and eventually be in the Mets Hall of Fame," said Voit with a smile.
Voit, 20, starts his major league career in Mets rookie camp before heading to one of the organization's affiliates.
