MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tonight's One Good Thing: 6,300 toys. That's how many were distributed to kids at the Northcott Neighborhood House Tuesday night.

The organization invited families to bring their children ages 1-17 for a gift distribution. It's the sixth year of Northcott's 'Tis the Season celebrations.

Northcott's executive director, Tony Kearney, told us they buy all the toys and noticed the prices were about double what they paid last year. They don't want parents to have to decide between paying their rent and giving their kids presents, so they want families to let Northcott take care of the Christmas costs.

"The kids are what's most important," Kearney said. "So, seeing them makes this all worthwhile. Every hour we spent planning, shopping, wrapping gifts, the kids make everything worthwhile."

This isn't the end of Northcott's holiday plans. Just as they did a big Thanksgiving dinner, they're also hosting a big Christmas feast on Christmas Day. They'll have four caterers coming in, with basketball games playing on big screen TVs.

Kearney says he's expecting 600 people to show up, and they'll have about 600 more toys to give away at that event.
