Celebrating Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day while supporting local businesses
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With Valentine’s Day approaching Friday, Feb. 14, many are making plans and shopping for gifts. For those celebrating friendships, there is also Galentine’s Day, recognized annually on Feb. 13. It offers women an opportunity to honor other women in their lives.
Celebrating that special someone, or even special friends, can be accomplished while staying local and keeping money in the Milwaukee area.
Ela Mari Boutique is hosting a Galentine’s Day event Sunday, Feb. 11 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Organizers say the event will feature local women-owned businesses, appetizers, drinks, desserts and complimentary services. Admission is free.
For those looking for a quiet night in, La Revo Books and La Finca Coffeehouse are partnering on a "blind date with a book" event. Visitors to the St. Francis coffee shop can pick up a mystery book and receive a free coffee. The promotion runs through Sunday, Feb. 16.
Mercadera Market, a group of Latina entrepreneurs in southeast Wisconsin, has launched "Conquístala Magazine," a digital publication showcasing local businesses and gift ideas. The magazine features recommendations for Valentine’s Day shopping.
With the goal of the week being to celebrate love, friendship and community, these events offer a variety of options.
