Charges filed in crash that left man seriously injured on Milwaukee's north side

Surveillance/Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 28-year-old man is now charged after a crash left a man without his leg on Milwaukee's north side.

Romeal O'Quin is charged with first degree reckless injury and hit-and-run causing great bodily harm.

Surveillance video shows two cars colliding near 35th and Hadley, sending one into a utility pole and the other crashing into Omar Foods.

Police say it started when the driver sped off from a traffic stop Saturday night, ran a stop sign and slammed into another car -- sending it crashing into two people.

Court records show O'Quin was speeding and driving without a valid license.

One of the men hit had to have his leg amputated. He's still recovering.

O'Quin is due in court for a preliminary hearing Oct. 27.
