Check out local art studios during the MKE Fine Craft Studio Tour this weekend

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The MKE Fine Craft Studio Tours takes place this Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2. You can get a behind-the-scenes look at art studios and meet the artists in their element.

There are 14 stops on this year's tour, and 40 artists, as some of the studios host other artists.

There are all types of artists taking part -- from woodworking to ceramics to hat makers.

"The importance is you're supporting local," said John McLaughlin, the co-owner of McLaughlin and Hayes Hat Company. "These are small businesses, small studios, small artists who are pouring their heart and soul in to every piece that they make."

The tour is self-guided. There are artists from Brown Deer to Milwaukee to Wauwatosa. You'll get to see a look into their processes and see artwork on display.

The tour takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
