Children's Wisconsin to open Kenosha mental health walk-in clinic
KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Children's Wisconsin has announced that they are preparing to open a new mental health walk-in clinic in Kenosha.
Aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 18, the facility will provide immediate mental health support, including therapy sessions, safety evaluations and long-term resource connections.
The new clinic is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2023, with a specific date contingent on staff recruitment and training.
Amy Herbst, vice president of mental and behavioral health at Children’s Wisconsin, emphasized the urgent need for the clinic in a Wednesday, Aug. 30 press release, noting, “We have 100 kids on the waiting list for therapy at our Kenosha, Mount Pleasant and Walworth clinics. These kids need our help now, not months from now.”
She added that the facility aims to cater to families seeking initial mental health interventions and those needing immediate support outside regular provider hours.
The walk-in clinic will be located at the Children's Wisconsin Kenosha Clinic and is supported by a $3 million commitment from Kohl's. The initiative aligns with Children's Wisconsin's efforts to integrate mental health services into primary care and schools across southeast Wisconsin.
